Trainee with Kernaghan Adjusters, Vancouver BC branch. He was trained
in all lines of general insurance claims and automobile claims. In 1982 Ollie moved to Toronto, Ontario where he worked as a Senior Claims Representative and subsequently as a Toronto area Claims Supervisor for Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company. Ollie handled major property and automobile related losses. In 1984 Ollie returned to Vancouver and Clifford Adjusters where he worked until the fall of 1987. At that time Ollie, with partner, Rick Elliot, formed Boundary Claims Service with the offices located in Vancouver. In 1990 Boundary Claims Service was sold to Multi-Line Claims Services Ltd. and Ollie became a partner of Multi-Line. Ollie’s work is now primarily automobile liability and general liability claims for property damage and bodily injury. He is fully experienced in all aspects of claims investigation, liability assessment, quantification of damages, and negotiation/settlement of claims. Ollie has extensive experience dealing with legal counsel representing claimants and insurers. EDUCATION:Ollie graduated from Carson Graham Senior Secondary School of North Vancouver, BC following which he attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Civil and Structural Technology. He subsequently undertook an Accounting Training Program with the Royal Bank of Canada, however, lost interest in a banking career. Early on in Ollie’s Insurance career he attended the Vale Technical Institute in Pennsylvania and undertook an extensive training program of automobile physical damage appraising. He gained his Certification upon completing his training. While working as an Independent Insurance Adjuster, Ollie achieved an Associateship of the Insurance Institute of Canada in 1979. He received the Robert Y. Yates Memorial Award, presented to the graduate attaining the highest standing in Claims Discipline. While working for Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company in Toronto, Ollie continued his education with the Insurance Institute of Ontario, earning diplomas in Management and Supervisory skills and Teaching skills. Ollie continues to upgrade his education by taking related courses at various facilities including the Insurance Institute of Canada, the ICBC Training Department, the Trial Lawyers Association, and the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC. CERTIFICATION:Ollie is licensed by the Insurance Council of British Columbia and has been so throughout his claims adjusting career. He has held an Adjuster Nominee License since 1987. OTHER EXPERIENCE:Ollie grew up in the home of a commercial fisherman and from the age of twelve, he worked in various positions within the commercial salmon fishery of British Columbia. This included working as a deck hand on both a gill-netter and troller. As he gained experience he undertook the operation of one of his father’s gill-netters, being in command of a 36’ licensed fishing vessel. Ollie also has experience with the Royal Bank of Canada where he was in an accounting trainee program and the British Columbia Forest Service where he worked as a licensed log scaler. PERSONAL:Ollie is married and lives with his wife, 22 year old daughter, and two cats. He is a resident of Coquitlam, BC. Ollie has held a great interest in sports throughout his life. While attending school he participated in numerous inter-school competitions in volleyball, basketball, and wrestling. Ollie grew up in the City of North Vancouver during which time he played baseball, fastball, and, in particular, Junior A hockey where he was a member of three Provincial Championship teams. Over the last few years Ollie has been involved in social and competitive amateur golf. He is a member of the Pitt Meadows Golf Club where he sits on the Match Committee. He is a former Club Champion of Predator Ridge Golf Resort in Vernon, BC. |
